Wearing clothing that enhances and suits your shape is the easiest way to look slimmer. It is important to dress for the body that you have, not the body that you want. When looking for a dress, the key is to accentuate the positive aspects of your body and and disguise the negatives.
Wear a dress that has ruffles near the neck. This draws attention to the upper body and away from the lower body. Add cap sleeves to highlight your arms.
Try a structured sheath dress that shows off curves without making you look larger. The key is the structure of the dress — it should hug your curves, but not cling to them. This is ideal for pear-shaped and hourglass-shaped women. It may not help apple women look thinner as they carry weight in the waist.
Select a wrap dress or a faux-wrap dress. As the fabric drapes around the body, this hides problem areas, such as a tummy or love handles. It makes your waist look small.
Choose dresses with small prints. If you are tired of boring solids, you can wear prints. Just keep in mind that small prints make you look thinner and smaller; large prints can do the opposite. Choose a dress with small, floral or even animal print. If you are bottom-heavy, choose an A-line dress that flares out slightly at the bottom.
