Whether you want a wedding ring that’s trendy, timeless, or something in between, you can make sure your choice will stand the test of time by following these simple tips.
You and your partner will probably already have an idea as to what kind of wedding band you both want before heading off to jewelry stores. However, this doesn’t mean you won’t fall in love with other bands the moment you start shopping – there are plenty of beautiful rings out there, after all.
Therefore, you should give yourselves an allowance of at least two months for researching, browsing, and revisiting different rings that caught your eye. If it’s a custom band you want, allow even more time since extras alone, such as engravings, can take up to a month for jewellers to complete.
CONSIDER THE STYLE
A wedding band is something that you’ll be wearing for a long time (for a lifetime if you’re lucky), so make sure you go for one with a style that would look great in any outfit. Or at least any outfit that you’ll own within the next 20 years. Hence, it would be wise to stick with a ring that has a clean finish and basic shape.
CONSIDER BOTH FUNCTION AND FORM
Selecting a wedding band based on appearances alone would be akin to choosing a spouse without having talked to him or her first. So when selecting a ring, make sure it will agree with your lifestyle. So if, say, you and your partner are people who enjoy athletic activities, you may want to choose slimmer rings that have rounded edges instead of a bulky and wide band.
CHECK THE QUALITY
To ensure quality, inspect the markings inside your wedding band. The first one would be the manufacturer’s trademark. The second would be the quality mark, which usually indicates the carat of your wedding band (PLAT or 24k, for example).
