Tips before before saying yes to the Dress

by Jenny Evangelista August 12, 2015

You will probably never be photographed in any dress as much as you will be in your wedding gown. So finding a dress that is breathtaking, gorgeous and comfortable that will help reflect you and your personality and style is a scenario that puts any bride-to-be under a lot of unnecessary pressure. The wedding gown you’ll be wearing is going to be one of the main centerpiece of the event. So before anything else, let me share with you some important tips before you go out and hit the stores looking for the “one”.

What is really your style?

Any bride-to-be must take some time off to reflect and envision her desired wedding style? Imagining yourself walking down the aisle wearing the wedding gown of your dreams. I would

agree that your family and friends opinion matters, but as the bride, you don't want to wear a gown picked solely by them. Make their opinion count but don’t base your decision on their opinions, it is you who will wear the gown. Also, carefully consider the following before the pick; where is your venue, the type of season, the type of fabric and the time of day you're getting married. Considering these options will help narrow down your dress style. Collaborate also with your designer if you have one or browse through wedding magazines and wedding sites like ellioteclaire.com, who most of the time offers great deal and package discounts. Just a tip, Try it before you buy it. They might look gorgeous but do they fit.

Shop at the Right Time

A calm store means a more personalized shopping experience. Shop in the morning for it is absolutely worth it. Avoid weekend dress shopping especially during Saturday afternoons for this is the most popular times making it the worst. Unless the store you’ll visit is by appointment only, try to target those slower times. Consultants are also fresher and friendlier during the morning.  And ladies, don't bring a huge entourage. It may be tempting to include all of your family and friends in this momentum experience, but the more people you bring, the more opinions you’ll received, the more confuse you’ll become.

Stick to the plan

As they say, wedding dresses will always look great on a hanger, because that is how it should supposed to be. Keep an open mind but stick to the plan. I know, sometimes we girls got to see it to believe it, not eliminating anything you see at first glance. But once you felt that immense joy by just wearing the dress, you will know, you found the one.

Put it all together

Now you found your wedding dress and it is now time to put it all together. By the way, there is one thing that is very important for you to prepare before the final fitting that is a nude strapless bra. It is also great to consider doing your hair and make-up, bringing a pair of shoes with a similar height to what you plan on wearing at the wedding, so you can see how the dress falls with your heels on. It will also be great to bring your wedding day jewels and accessories, on your shopping trip to get an idea of how your whole look will come together.

Happy searching!
